We know our pastry chef’s love a challenge, so we raised the bar and challenged them to showcase their talent under the watchful eye of the judges on BBC2’s Bake Off Crème de la Crème!
Tomas, Victor and Simon, took on rivals from Wales and Leeds as they faced two tests in a bid to win a place in the semi-final of the contest which has been designed to find the finest pastry chef’s in the UK.
They were challenged to make a trio of miniatures (36 of each)- a classic layered slice, hand-crafted slice and cube petit gateau – a total of 108 little pastries, all identical and as perfect as possible.
Judges Benoit Blin, Cherish Finden and Claire Clark then challenged the team to take on the ultimate task, to create a showpiece in three hours. The chefs had to reinvent the chocolate cheesecake and the chef’s decided on a tribute to the Olympians of Ancient Greece.
The scoring was close, and our chef’s came a very respectable 2nd! They represented Panoramic34 brilliantly and showed their flair, creativity and skill on prime time TV!
